May Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So a couple months ago Julep announced their crowdfunded campaign for their new Plie wand which they stated would revolutionize the way you apply polish. You could choose several levels if you wanted to donate each with different rewards or incentives. One of the levels was you could pre-pay for your May Julep box. I figured I was going to wind up getting this wand anyways and would likely get my box so that was the level I chose. At first Julep was going to be changing the caps of all their polishes to make them compatible with the wand. This threw people into a tizzy, the idea of changing the caps or having mismatching caps was not their best idea. However they changed the design and made it compatible with the current caps. Good job Julep.

Zoya - Arabella

Hey guys,

Yay it's the weekend! I have a busy weekend ahead of me, another horse show. I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm sorry if don't wind up posting. Hopefully it won't be a problem.

I have my last PixieDust to show you guys today, I wanted to save this one for a Wednesday since on Wednesday's we wear pink and all except this week I guess I just postponed it to Friday. Hope you're all cool with that. So this is a bright pink pixiedust. Same good old application here. This is two coats.

Julep - Priscilla - May Birthstone

Hey guys,

So yesterday I received a package in the mail from my beautiful girl Melissa and it was FULL of awesome polishes and the sweetest letter (on the raddest Batman stationary) that made me cry. I can't wait to show you guys the polishes I got! I need my stubby nails to grow out a bit! All week I've been trying to wear polishes I have already swatched so they can at least grow for a couple days before I start photographing their sad little butts.

I have the May birthstone from Julep to show you guys today! This is a beautiful glittering emerald full coverage glitter, very much in the vein of Betty from January. I am so happy to see another full coverage glitter here. I wish they all were like this. This was two coats.

Supernatural Lacquer - Lilith

Hey guys,

So I don't know about any of you guys but I am insanely excited for Maleficent to come out this weekend! I won't be able to see it until next week but the anticipation is killing me. I've said it 100 times before but Sleeping Beauty is tied with Beauty & The Beast as my favourite Disney movie. So excited!

I have my last Supernatural Lacquer polish to show you guys today.
Lilith is a shimmery-pearl top coat, I actually noticed this had a bit of a pink shimmer to it that was noticable in person but hard to capture in pictures. Pearly top coats are not my favourite but I did think this was really pretty and it applied great.
This is one coat over dark plum.

Supernatural Lacquer - GED & A Give Em Hell Attitude

Hey guys,

So I'm watching A Cinderella Story on TV right now, man remember when Chad Michael Murray was hot and not a total greaseball? My how the mighty have fallen. I haven't seen this movie in forever, frick I forgot how much I love it. I won't lie my go to is the newest one with Lucy Hale, but lets get real they're all a guilty pleasure.

I have another beauty from the Supernatural collection today! This turned out to be my sleeper favourite. I didn't expect to love this as much as I did. This is an army-green silk type polish that dries matte which is gorgeous but really pops when you add a top coat. I did both on the manicure below. Application was super smooth too. This is two coats.

Supernatural Lacquer - Yellow Eyed Demon

Hey guys,

So today I started listening to the audiobook for Helter Skelter at work today, it's the story of the Manson Murders. It is ridiculously creepy but totally fascinating. I love true crime books but they have to be audiobooks and I have to listen to them at work or I get scared. I'm such a wimp.

Oh and I totally stepped on a piece of glass today first thing in the morning. Not fun, hope no one notices the blood on the carpet. Whoops.

I have another of the Supernatural polishes to show you today! I have been looking forward to this polish for a while now. It's a neon yellow with black glitter. Based on the character of Azazel who at the beginning is known as the yellow eyed demon. It wasn't long after I ordered it when I got a message from Stefanie from Supernatural Lacquer (she is the sweetest!) saying that she noticed that despite passing several time and wear tests and being solvent resistant, some of the black glitter was now silver. So my bottle of YED was a bit blingy. She offered to replace it with another colour if I didn't want it. I wanted this so bad I decided it didn't matter, then we both agreed that Azazel was a bit sassy and would probably enjoy the bling.
This may pop a bit more over a white base coat but I like it this way. This is three coats with topcoat (it dries matte)

Supernatural Lacquer - Driver Picks the Music, Shotgun Shuts His Cakehole

Hey guys,

So remember how yesterday I was saying my nail was almost cracked? Well yesterday I was at my coach's farm helping with some manual labour and my pinky nail got snapped off so I had no choice but to go to shorties, so the crack in my thumb was irrelevant. Honestly they were doing so well I felt like I was living on borrowed time anyways. I have a fair amount of back log so it will likely be a while before they show their sorry faces on here.

This week I have a few beauties from Supernatural Lacquer's Supernatural collection. New polishes and a restock happened today! CLICK HERE unfortunately my bank account hasn't let me get any of the new ones (yep sad face) but this week I have 4 of the earlier released to show you. First up is a black jelly with holographic glitter (micro and large).
Honestly application here was great. There was minimal fishing for bigger glitters and this is two coats!

Plus I really love the quote that inspired this polish. It's one I frequently repeat in my own vehicle and wish I had on a button so I could stick it on the passenger's visor.

Zoya - Dhara

Hey guys,

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday so far, I am currently spending this beautiful day in my basement keeping my dog company while our furnace ducts are cleaned and having a mini Melissa & Joey marathon.
Also last night while I was taking my sandal off my thumbnail on my left hand totally bent forward, of course I panicked. Weirdly enough there is a big crack in it but the nail is still totally intact. So I reinforced it with a teabag and crazy glue. Hopefully that will work for long enough until it grows out a bit.

I have another Pixiedust to show you guys. This is a tangerine textured polish. Perfect for summer. Doesn't it remind you of a fresh orange? This was a bit on the more sheer side for a Pixiedust. Nice application though, this is 3 coats.

Different Dimension - Excelsior!

Hey guys,

Yay it's Friday! I don't know about you guys but I have a super busy weekend ahead of me, Forced farm labour tomorrow, and then Corporate Challenge stuff on Sunday. Plus I have been roped into a quasi-blind double date tonight (shoot me please) so I have a feeling this weekend is going to fly by. I know it's a long weekend for all my South of the border neighbors out there. Lucky.

Today I have the last holo from Different Dimension to show you guys, I have wanted this one for a while. Mostly because it reminds me of Silver Linings Playbook. This is a white/grey holo that also has a bit of a pink sheen to it in the light. This is three coats.

Different Dimension - Just Keep Swimming

Hey guys,

So I had a very exciting day, my best friend finally adopted a dog! She is away at work right now so I went over and helped her mom go shopping. He's a 10 month old Lab cross (They said Lab x Akita but as a card carrying owner of an Akita I can officially say there doesn't appear to be a single Akita trait in that dog) named Apollo which is perfect because he is a golden tan colour (seems very appropriate for a dog named after the sun god)

Today I have a polish I actually wore ALL weekend, 4 whole days. I love blue strong holos, and if you have to pick one polish to wear for more than one day it may as well be a gorgeous one! I bought this in the same impulse purchase as Dueling Unicorns. It applied great and wore great too, no smurf fingers!
This was two coats.

imPRESS Influenster Vox Box

Hey guys,

Today I have something a little bit different for you guys, so like a year and a half ago I signed up for Influenster, which is a program that sends people free samples to review. Honestly I hadn't thought of them much until a few weeks ago when I received a survey in my email. So I filled out the questionnaire and went about my daily life, well about a week later I got a email saying I had been chosen for an imPRESS vox box. So I went onto the influenster website and started playing around and now I am obsessed with them.

I have never tried press on nails before or even fake nails, I have seen these around in stores and used by grav3yardgirl but since I paint my nails daily they seemed like a waste of money. Anyways, I was super excited when I saw I got a set of the Disney Villain ones (it's like they know me!) so those are the ones I decided to test drive. My cinderella hand is super short right now so it seemed like a good time to test them.

Please forgive the awkward pictures I had a hard time taking pictures of my right hand.

In my box I got two sets of nails, the pink patterny ones and the villain ones.

I dig the packaging on these, I am currently thinking of what I am going to use the bottle case for... I'm thinking as a pill case. We'll see.

So the instructions are pretty simple, find the nails that fit each of your fingers and lay them out. Then on clean (they give you a cleaning wipe) bare nails starting with the pinky remove the plastic backing and press down onto your nail, starting in the middle of the nail then sort of smoothing it out. Do the thumb last. Then stay away from water for 30 minutes.

Honestly the longest part of this was finding the right sizes, other than that super easy.
I had to file my nails down a bit because these are way shorter than I normally wear my nails.

The nails all have this sort of plastic square nub on the free edge that you have to file off (they give you a rough file to do this with)  At first they feel a bit weird but it was easy to get used to. The weirdest part for me was having square nails on one hand and stilettos on the other.

So they claim they will last a week if applied correctly, I definitely believe this. I left them on for 6 days then finally had to get rid of them because I couldn't stop nawing on them. After 6 days the edges were getting pretty worn and starting to lift a bit, but you wouldn't have noticed from a far. I had to soak them in acetone for a couple seconds (about ten seconds each) then use my cuticle pusher to pry them up. There didn't appear to be any damage done to my natural nail.
Verdict: if you need a lasting manicure and don't have nice and strong nails and would like to try these I definitely would say they are worth the $10 (give or take a bit) they are so easy to use and come in a bunch of different patterns. If you change your polish often like me, or have long nails like me - then probably not. I wish they would make a longer stiletto shape so I could have nails that match if I decided to try them again.
